Secretary Valedictory - Tim Reardon
The Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) occupies a unique position. This important leadership position has an overview of the work of the 400,000 people who make up the NSW public sector workforce. In addition, the Secretary of DPC must have a close working relationship with the Premier and act as a crucial bridge between the public sector and senior political leadership.

Tim Reardon has held this position for four years during one of the most complex and challenging periods in NSW history. He is widely respected for this deep personal commitment to the concept of public service and his belief that all public servants are working for the people of NSW.

Prior to becoming Secretary of DPC, Tim held some of the most senior positions in the NSW public sector and as Secretary of Transport for NSW he was responsible for the delivery of the largest transport infrastructure and services pipeline in a generation. During a 25 years career in the public and private sectors, he was recognised for his expertise in strategic infrastructure planning and project delivery, both of which are crucially important areas of work for the public sector.

From the challenges of COVID and natural disasters to the delivery of massive transport infrastructure projects, Tim Reardon has led the NSW public sector during tumultuous times. What are the lessons he has learned and that we all need to know?

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND

Being part of a Secretary Valedictory event lets you learn directly from a departing member of NSW’s most senior public sector team. It’s a chance to hear their frank assessment about the secrets behind public sector successes and where our sector’s major challenges still lie.  You’ll also hear about their own personal career trajectory, how they overcame the challenges they faced and their thoughts about the future of the NSW public sector.

At least 25% of this event is also allocated to questions from the floor, meaning that you will have the opportunity to play an active part in this discussion.
