Course Overview

This course addresses the fundamental principles of procurement in the Queensland Public Sector. Upon completion, participants will be able to apply the concept of procurement to the Queensland Government context and follow standard ordering, receipting and payment processes on behalf of their agency.

This course covers the fundamental principles of procurement in the Queensland Public Sector. Upon completion, you will be able to apply the concept of procurement to the Queensland Government context and follow standard ordering, receipting and payment processes on behalf of your agency.

Course Outline

This course consists of five x 30 minute self-paced online modules.

Module 1: What is procurement?
  • define value for money
  • identify the different considerations for evaluating goods and services
  • define the stages of procurement
  • distinguish between simple and complex procurements based on value and risk.
Module 2: Procurement in the Qld public sector
  • identify how strategic procurement benefits Queensland
  • define principles core to Qld public sector procurement.
Module 3: Legal, administrative and governance frameworks
  • identify the types of frameworks related to Qld Government procurement
  • locate and access relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • define the intent of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Module 4: Preventing corruption in procurement
  • identify probity requirements relating to procurement
  • define what constitutes corruption
  • identify corruption risks that apply to procurement
  • identify your obligations in preventing corruption in procurement.
Module 5: Undertaking simple procurement
  • follow the 3 stage procurement process when undertaking simple procurement
  • comply with basic ordering, receipting and payment processes.

The examples and scenarios used throughout the course relate to low value, low risk procurement activities, although the procurement principles discussed in the modules apply to all procurement activities.

Certificate of Completion: On completion of this training, you will be issued with a Certificate of Completion, which can be downloaded and printed.

Timeframe to complete this course: From date of registration, you will have 60 days to access and complete this training.
