Overview

PCP Level 2, Intermediate Procurement builds on the procurement skills introduced in PCP Level 1 Procurement Fundamentals. This course is aimed at those staff purchasing low-medium value/low risk items from standing offer arrangements (SOA). This course develops the skill set of the intermediate procurement officer and involves:

  • Delivery mode: Two days face-to-face or online facilitated.
  • Workbook completion: Your in-class attendance and participation will require workbook sign off from your facilitator.
  • Assessment: This course requires the submission of an assessment project within eight weeks of completing the course.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify the essential phases in the strategic sourcing cycle
  • Plan a low risk, low value procurement process procurement activity.
  • Understand value for money arising from low risk/low value purchases
  • Implement a procurement plan that reflects the Queensland Government legislative and policy environment
  • Draft specifications, go to market, and select suppliers for small-medium size procurements
  • Undertake basic contract administration, contract management planning and performance management of contractors
  • Understand how to conduct risk assessments and an introduction to the concept of total-cost-of-ownership.
  • Understand ethics and fair dealing, and how to incorporate sustainability in procurement.
  • Act within own delegations and refer issues to higher authority when necessary.

Virtual Classroom Requirements

Students have the option to attend this course face-to-face or online facilitated. If you have multiple participants attending from the same location, it may be useful to set up a shared virtual classroom. To set up a virtual classroom from a shared locating, each physical location requires:

  • Internet connection: Any network connection 4G or better.
  • Hardware: PC with a web-camera, microphone, and capacity to run Zoom
  • Monitor: Appropriately sized monitor or screen to support attendee numbers.

Additional Information

  • Class size: Min: 12 participants; Max: 18 participants.
  • Individual and group bookings: Individual bookings are a per person cost. Group bookings are a per person cost for a group of three or more participants from the same agency.
  • Course cancellations: If a scheduled course does not reach the minimum registration of 12 participants, registered participants will be advised no later than one week prior to course start date. 

In-House Course Delivery

 In-house training can also be provided directly to your organisation at a MINIMUM cost of $13,306.36 (ex. GST), plus $60.00 per person for assessment fees. Maximum class size of 18 applies.  Please note: Successful completion of Level 1 online training is a pre-requisite requirement to attend PCP Level 2 in-house training.
