Facilitation skills was identified by your public sector leaders as one of the Skills for Success that all public servants now need to be effective in their work. This course builds on IPAA’s foundational one hour workshop for those keen to further develop their facilitation skills.
If you facilitate meetings and consultation groups of any type, this course is for you.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
You will leave this course with the skills to facilitate meetings, focus groups, consultations, information forums and other similar sessions.
You will take a practical look at facilitation design to ensure objectives are met and explore a range of ways to build participation and commitment to results.
You will also learn the skills to deal with difficult behaviours in group discussions.
You will finish this course knowing you can:
- understand the role of facilitation in group processes.
- set a clear purpose and objectives for their facilitation.
- design a facilitation using a range of facilitation approaches, tools and techniques.
- plan a facilitation to build participation and commitment.
- plan a facilitation to minimise disruptive behaviours.
- use effective communication skills to minimise the impact of difficult or disruptive behaviour.
- enable a group to achieve agreed outcomes.
Facilitation and Meeting Engagement Skills is for people at the Adept to Advanced levels and you will develop the following capabilities:
