During this hands-on course, you will practise decision-making, both routine decisions and complex decisions requiring consideration of various external factors.

You will leave this course with the tools for analysing problems.

You will learn more about decision-making and discretion including the anatomy of a decision and what are the considerations.

You will also learn the traps in decision-making like bias; interference and addressing symptoms, not causes.

You will finish this course knowing you can:

independently consider all relevant data, facts and correct application of regulatory tools.
apply regulatory powers in an informed way, reflecting an understanding of authority to exercise power and the context in which decisions are made.
enhance the likelihood of reliable, timely and defensible regulatory decisions.
manage the process and implications of regulatory decision-making.
