During this one-day course, you will develop the knowledge and skills required for undertaking the research and analysis essential for developing and supporting policy initiatives.

This includes building your knowledge of the role of research, analysis of problems, formulation of outcomes, policy history, whole-of-government collaboration and citizen engagement and empowerment.

This course is ideal for anyone newly stepping into a policy development role or who wants to understand how policy underpins the work we all do.


What will you learn?

You will learn the key concepts and the use of policy vocabulary to help build confidence in policy communication and analysis.

You will also learn how to communicate policy research, findings and ideas inside and outside the public sector.

You will finish the course knowing you can:
  • Undertake basic policy data collection.
  • Categorize policy problems into basic tasks and activities
  • Use vocabulary appropriate to both professional and stakeholder audiences
